Gram matrices from Steinberg lattices and hyperplane arrangements.


Abstract: We compare a bilinear form defined on the Steinberg lattice of a finite Chevalley group with another bilinear from defined in terms of its Weyl group. We construct a common generalization and relate a conjecture of R. Gow about the former to a well-known theorem of Zagier and Varchenko about the latter.
