Combinatorial-topological aspects of hyperbolic volume

Abstract: We shall give a survey about combinatorial-topological aspects of non-euclidean polyhedral volume. In even dimensions, for example, volume reduction formulae first discovered by Ludwig Schläfli in 1852 lead to combinatorial number sequences and arithmetic questions in a natural way. At the end, we will mention some open problems around non-euclidean volume computations.
